Remembrance Day

Today we remember all those that gave their lives for our freedom in Canada: all those that fought for the future of Canadians that they would never meet.

Here in BC, we have less than 5,000 veterans who carry the lived experience of WWII with them, the war that ended 80 years and one month ago today.

In Canada, we have hard truths that we need to own. Our veterans are three times more likely to face homelessness and over 30% live with PTSD or other related injuries. We need to care for them better as a country. Let’s provide adequate services and supports for our veterans.

Let’s remember that we should utilize our strength as our country to promote peace at home and abroad. Let's gather today with our over 400,000 veterans across the country to demonstrate our respect and honour them for their commitment to protecting our country, and protecting all of us as Canadians.
