Guaranteed Livable Basic Income

One in four Canadians lives with a disability. Alongside working people across the country, they’re struggling to make ends meet, while the top 1% continue to hoard nearly 30% of Canada’s wealth.

That is unacceptable.

As an experienced social worker, I know what it’s like to care for people our system has failed.

We need a Guaranteed Livable Basic Income, paid for by a wealth tax on the rich, so that everyone can live in dignity.

A Guaranteed Livable Basic Income is proven to reduce poverty, empower people living with disabilities, and serve as a powerful tool in eliminating gender-based violence, for which Indigenous women and girls are most targeted.

That’s why I believe that the NDP must champion a National Framework for a Guaranteed Livable Basic Income Act, as previously introduced by our NDP MP Leah Gazan.

I’m running for NDP Leader to ensure we champion this conversation.
