National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today, we remember the 14 women whose lives were taken in the 1989 École Polytechnique femicide — an anti-feminist act of gender-based violence.

We also honour every woman, girl, and Two-Spirit person whose life has been stolen by gender-based violence, including the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people whose families are still waiting for justice.

We honour them through action. That means expanding access to mental health care so everyone can receive support before it’s too late — and building communities where safety, dignity, and equality are non-negotiable.
