Statement on the Bondi Beach attack

Waking up this morning to the news headlines of the mass shooting of innocent Jewish folks gathered on a beach for Hanukkah were horrific and devastating. To hear now that at least 15 people have lost their lives to the racist attack is unfathomable, and in a country with strict gun regulations.

We, as a country, must stand against hate, against antisemitism, against racism and condemn these disgusting acts of violence.

Injustice doesn’t stop at a border, an ocean, or a wall. We must not act like it does. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Jewish brothers and sisters, their friends, colleagues, and classmates who have lost their loved one and who are reeling on this day of Hanukkah.
